Thanks For Visiting!
The 2007 Rattle My Bones Twin Cities Scooter
Rally was a great time - even
if it WAS a little wet for two of the four days. You can check out the
plans
for the 2008 rally HERE. Please take a
moment and visit our
SPONSOR page - without their support,
the rally would not have
been possible. You can check out events and pictures from the rally
at our EVENTS page. Don't forget to
stop by our THANKS page - there
were MANY volunteers who contributed a great deal to the rally.

The following report was contributed by
Kent Aldrich of
the All Mod Cons & Muscooteers. Kent was one of the rally
coordinators. He's the guy with the mint-green Stella with over 40
mirrors.
The Twin Cities scooter rally got a new name and a new group of organizers
in 2007. After years of fine work by members of The Regulars Scooter Club,
in 2007 the All Mod Cons Scooter Club stepped up and took on the rally.
The Rattle My Bones Rally, with 194 registered riders, took place over
four days in August and added a scavenger hunt and a cluster of specialty
rides.
Thursday saw the mass of bikes gathering at The Happy Gnome in St. Paul
for a meet and greet which included drinks and and the formation of
scavenger hunt teams. The hunt teams were released onto the mean streets
of St. Paul to look for the usual assortment of photo opportunities and
junk. After the hunt, Wynn Pennington of Moto Vino Wines hosted a tasting
(and for some, more than a taste) of some of his fine wines and an
assortment of hordevours.
Friday evening was a bit of a logistics nightmare for the organizers with
four separate rides (vintage, twist and go, new riders and geared bikes)
all starting at different locations and ending up at the Bedlam Theatre in
Minneapolis to listen to bands. Friday also saw the first of three
scooters raffled off. Yep, three scooters were given away at Rattle My
Bones, a Baron from Baron Scooters, a Piaggio Typhoon from Leo’s South and
a Buddy from Bob Hedstrom at Scooterville in Minneapolis. Along with
Craftsman tool sets, $300 dollars worth of tattoos, toy scooters,
T-shirts, gloves, patches, CDs, goggles, gift certificates, cable locks, a
half dozen helmets and so much more stuff that listing it all would take
up this whole column. Thanks to all the people who donated, what a
supportive community!
After a month-and-a-half of drought in the Twin Cities, Saturday dampened
spirits a bit as the Big Ride got hit with the Northern edge of a storm
that dumped 17 inches of rain on Southern Minnesota. A somewhat reduced
group of hard core scooterists met at Yarusso’s in St. Paul for breakfast
and then donned rain gear and garbage bags and headed out. The Big Ride
was reworked a bit on the fly due to downed trees from a big wind storm
and the collapse of the 35W bridge over the Mississippi River and, of
course, the rain. After a wet but pleasant ride that included only one
admonishment from the St. Paul Police to mind our manners, we arrived at
Scooterville in Minneapolis for hot coffee and lunch and to get ready for
the Gymkhana.
A brand new parking lot being built behind Scooterville gave us a full
acre of fresh asphalt upon which to hold the Gymnkana. And what an event
it was! A scooter pull, slow race, water tank jump, drag races, a flaming
hoop, and finally, the hit of the event, paint ball jousting on scooters.
Then off to The Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis for more bands, DJs
and the rest of the raffle.
Sunday we met at The Square Peg Diner for a hearty breakfast and ended at
Merlin’s Rest after riding through what has to have been the hardest
downpour any of us had ever scooted in.
A special thanks to David Lee, to Bob Hedstrom at Scooterville, Ryan and
Aaron at Blue Cat Motors, David Harrington at justgottascoot.com, The
Muscooteers Scooter Club and the boys and girls of the All Mod Cons
Scooter Club.
Plans for a drier Rattle My Bones Scooter Rally, for 2008, are already in
the works. Go to www.rattlemybones.com, and join us this August 14th
through the 17th.
